Bonjour à tous!What a strange week, began with a snow day and ends with a PA Day. No school tomorrow for students as teachers participate in learning sessions in Kingston.This week only a few things coming. Wednesday grade 3 students will be heading to the pool for Swim to Survive, and Friday will be Pink Shirt day. Wear pink that day to show support for sharing kindness with everyone. I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. This allows students to purchase gifts for their family before we break for the holidays. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Our goal is to make the most use of class time and create an effective, focused, and respectful learning environment for all students.<h1 class="editor-heading-h1" dir="ltr">LDSB Student Dress Policy</h1>The Limestone District School Board is committed to upholding human rights, and creating an equitable, inclusive, and accessible school climate that ensures all students and staff feel safe, comfortable, and accepted. Bonjour à tous!The first week of November came in like it usually does....cold and wet. Don't forget warm clothes, including a hat and mitts, for outdoor play. Fresh air is good for everyone....even if it is colder than we'd like! Another quiet week coming event wise. The school will mark Remembrance Day on Tuesday, and on Thursday Progress Reports go home. Also Thursday is the last day to place your Poinsettia orders, be sure to go into SchoolDay and order some holiday spirit. Friday this week is a PA Day, so there will be no school for students as staff engage in professional learning. There is a presentation to notify families about. The OSPCA is coming on Wednesday to give presentations on animals to E 5/6 and F SK/1.I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. Bonjour à tous! Hard to believe we are already entering November! I hope everyone that is out and about tonight for Halloween has a fun but safe time. Fingers crossed for no rain! Another quiet week coming as far as field trips and events. The big day will be Monday - School Picture Day! Be sure to brush that hair and come ready to smile. Also Thursday will be our first lock down drill at 10:45 am. Classes will practice before and know what to do when we have the drill to help limit any anxiety around it.This weekend as you put the Halloween decorations away its time to start thinking Christmas. What better way to do that then by ordering a poinsettia from our SAC! Different sizes available, check out the ad below and order on School Day.While were on the topic of holiday spirit, don't forget you can donate any gently used items to our Kids Only shopping room. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Student Census Survey Opt-Out Deadline Extended

Dear Families,As a follow-up to our previous messages about the upcoming Student Census survey, the deadline for families to opt out has been extended to the end of day on Monday, November 17. If you wish to opt your student(s) out, please contact your school principal. A Message from Southeast Public Health

Dear Families,We are sharing the following letter from Southeast Public Health, which contains important information for families:<hr>Dear parents, guardians and staff:RE: First Influenza A Confirmed Case of the SeasonPlease be advised that Southeast Public Health (SEPH) has received laboratory confirmation of the first case of influenza A for the 2025-2026 season. We are providing this information so that you will be able to take steps to ensure the best protection possible for yourself and your family.Influenza causes mild to severe illness and can lead to serious health complications, even in healthy children and adults. Immunization is the best way to prevent influenza; even in years when there is a strain mismatch, the flu vaccine will still offer some protection. The influenza vaccine (flu shot) is available free of charge to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Ontario who is 6 months of age and over. Contact your health-care provider or local pharmacy for your influenza vaccine if your family has not yet been immunized. For children under 5 years of age who cannot receive their immunization from their health-care provider, <a href="https://southeastph.ca/health-topics/respiratory-season-vaccines/" class="editor-link">Southeast Public Health is offering clinics</a>.Next to immunization, the single most important way to prevent the spread of infection is to clean hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers should only be used for children if they are assisted and should be stored out of reach of young children.The symptoms of influenza include:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">fever (greater than 38.0°C/100.4 °F)</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">dry cough</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">chills</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">headache</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">muscle aches</li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem">loss of appetite</li><li value="7" class="editor-listitem">sore throat</li><li value="8" class="editor-listitem">runny nose</li></ul> Young children may also experience nausea and vomiting with the above symptoms.If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home until they are fever-free and their symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours if they’ve had vomiting or diarrhea). When your child returns to school, we encourage them to wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days from when their symptoms started to help keep others healthy.
