What's Happening at The Prince Charles School

Hello everyone! Bonjour à tous!

The first whole week of school is behind us, and a new start awaits Monday!  I wanted to personally thank all of our families for their patience and understanding as we re-organized our English classes this week.  This is never an easy process to undergo, and we know it creates anxiety for families and students. However, the end result is smaller class sizes and more staff in the building, something that supports the growth of all of our students. It has also given us the opportunity to welcome Mrs. Katie Semark to our team!  Katie will be the teacher in our new English 4/5 class, and we are so excited to have her here at TPCS.

Please check out all the posters below for updates and information. Looking for a way to help support our students and the school? Consider joining our SAC or parent’s council! The first meeting of the year will be Monday September 22nd, and at that meeting will be the elections for council positions. If you would like to join council or offer your support through volunteering, check out the poster below and complete the form at https://forms.gle/rdspyjg8EFRfjcGNA

Some September events to share. Running from September 23rd to 25th will be the Scholastic Book Fair. Also that week please plan to join us for our annual Open House. Come meet staff, see the school, and enjoy some pizza on us and our SAC! The Junk in the Trunk Yard Sale will be running September 27th. Book your spot as a vendor or plan to attend!

Please review the memo below from Kids Inclusive regarding the new model for Occupational Therapy in the school environment. If you have concerns or do not want your child to participate, please let me know.

As we begin to navigate the year, please know that here at TPCS we are committed to an active partnership with our parents. I believe that open communication prevents issues from growing, so if at anytime you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to me via e-mail or by calling the school.

Have a great weekend, J'espère que vous avez tous une bonne fin de semaine!

TPCS Cell Phone Policy

Cell phone use by students impacts not only the learning environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Our goal is to make the most use of class time and create an effective, focused, and respectful learning environment for all students.

LDSB Student Dress Policy

The Limestone District School Board is committed to upholding human rights, and creating an equitable, inclusive, and accessible school climate that ensures all students and staff feel safe, comfortable, and accepted. Please review our updated Student Dress Policy using the attached document
