Our students had been working very hard on their performances, and it showed! We hope their singing and dancing brought you a smile and some holiday spirit.No big events the week we return. Please don't forget to purchase January hot lunch on School Day before the window closes. In the new year, our grade 8's can look forward to NDSS Information Night - details in the flyer below. Also if your child is missing vaccinations, perhaps take advantage of one of the clinics detailed further down in the update. In the new year Public Health will be notifying families of possible school suspensions for missing vaccinations, so please try and make arrangements with them as soon as possible.Our annual ski trip will open on School Day when we return in January. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Bonjour à tous!1 week left to the holidays! Families should remind their children to bring home all their winter gear on Friday, so it is available for any winter activities they engage in over the holidays.1 trip this week, all though not a very far one! Our intermediate students will be visting NDSS on Wednesday to watch a musical concert. The big event this week will be our annual Holiday Concert. It is being held on Wednesday, with one show at 9:00 am and another at 12:00 pm. Class photos and retakes were postponed by the snow day. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. by students impacts not only the learning environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Bonjour à tous!With the snow day last week, I would like to remind families that it is officially bus cancellation season. I try and message families when I am informed, however it is best that families use Tri-Board for bus specific messages. Check out the poster below for more details.Winter also leads to a spike in head lice cases in schools. We do checks and notify families when there are cases identified in classrooms, but it helps to be vigilant at home as well. Check your little ones hair when brushing, and if you find lice move ahead with treatment. More details are below, and if families need support to complete treatment please reach out and let me know.This week only a few things coming. Wednesday grade 3 students will be heading to the pool for Swim to Survive, and Thursday will be a spirit day - Tacky Thursday! Check out the poster below for more details.The big event coming will be our annual Primary Holiday Concert! Classes have begun to learn songs, skits, and dances to share with families December 17th. This event has a graphic further down in the newsletter.SAC would like to share that this coming Friday will be Poinsettia order pickup. Also Merch orders are available with delivery in time for Christmas, details down in the update. I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. This allows students to purchase gifts for their family before we break for the holidays. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Fresh air is good for everyone....even if it is colder than we'd like! Another quiet week coming event wise. The school will mark Remembrance Day on Tuesday, and on Thursday Progress Reports go home. Also Thursday is the last day to place your Poinsettia orders, be sure to go into SchoolDay and order some holiday spirit. Friday this week is a PA Day, so there will be no school for students as staff engage in professional learning. There is a presentation to notify families about. The OSPCA is coming on Wednesday to give presentations on animals to E 5/6 and F SK/1.I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. Another quiet week coming as far as field trips and events. The big day will be Monday - School Picture Day! Be sure to brush that hair and come ready to smile. Also Thursday will be our first lock down drill at 10:45 am. Classes will practice before and know what to do when we have the drill to help limit any anxiety around it.This weekend as you put the Halloween decorations away its time to start thinking Christmas. Unfortunately I cannot attend this year, as I had some last minute family obligations. I'll miss all the costumes and family fun, Boo Bash is my favourite event!Next Friday on the 31st we will have BLACK AND ORANGE DAY to mark Halloween. Be on the look out that day, there may be some staff transformed for this fun and spooky day!And as we all know, immediately after Halloween ends, the Christmas Season begins! Some of our cross country runners will be heading to the championships at Fort Henry on WEDNESDAY, and our FI Kinders are hearing about Diwali from a parent on Monday. Also on Monday are intermediate vaccinations. Our second fire drill will take place this Friday at 9:30. November will be our first Lock Down drill, information will be shared well in advance for families. Please know that every effort will be taken to ensure that this is not a stressful experience for our students.The cold has arrived! In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. One you may not have seen before is "Stinger Support" and it is unique to our school. When we call this over the PA system, it is to ask our students to "support" a fellow "Stinger" (student or an adult) by trying to stay in the classroom as much as possible and avoiding the office area. This is used when there is no danger to students, but we are trying to give an individual some privacy. An example of this when there is a medical emergency and an ambulance needs to be called.We have a guest presenter that I need to share. A parent will be visiting Mme. Gibbs and Mme. Cool wet weather means wardrobe changes, make sure your little ones don't forget their jackets or sweaters, or your older ones don't head out the door in shorts and a tank top! We try and give our students as much outdoor time as we can, so having students dress for the weather is important as the thermometer drops.November hot lunches are now available on SchoolDay. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher.
