The Prince Charles School Weekly Family Update February 13th

I hope everyone is able to spend some time together as a family this weekend. We all might get a chance to spend some time outside as well, with warmer temperatures finally in the forecast!Make sure to log into School Day this weekend, lots of things in there you won't want to miss out on. March hot lunches are now available, as is the last chance to support our SAC fundraiser - Mitchell Soup! Deadline is Monday February 16th, more details below. Also grab your tickets for our SAC Family Dance this coming Friday. Cost is $5 per student, adults and under 2 free! Check out the poster below for full details.Some events to share next week, gr. 7's to Upper Canada Village, Boys A Basketball to LESSA tournament, and another visit from the Queens Junior Medics. Don't forget to keep scrolling to see posters of more things happening, including dental clinics for children with free services for kids under 17.2026/27 Kindergarten registration is now open! If your child was born in 2022, then this is your year. Here at TPCS you can register in either English or French Immersion kindergarten programs, and you don't have to live in our area to register with us. LDSB aims to accommodate families who wish to have their children attend a school out of their area. There are some conditions so call the school to hear the details. <a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/registration" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">Registrations are completed on-line, follow the link to get started! </a>We are also on the look out for hockey helmets. In order for classes to go skating, they need to have hockey helmets for every student. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. With these frigid temperatures please ensure students leave for school with all their winter gear. We try as much as we can to get out for air during the day, and negative teen temperatures can redden noses and ears quickly!Last chance to get in on our latest SAC fundraiser - Mitchell Soup! environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. I think we need a break from constant snow and arctic temperatures!Due to the school closure Monday, out literacy week activities have been moved to next week. Please see below for the schedule, and keep filling those Bingo cards!Some frosty fieldtrips next week. On Monday F5 and F6 are headed for a winter cookout at Gould Lake. Thursday F1/2 will be working on indigenous art at a Loveleigh Place, as will F7 on Friday. Picture re-takes will be on Wednesday - make sure you dress for the camera if you need another photo!Don't forget to order a Valentines Milk Shake and February hot lunches! Order window closing soon in SchoolDay.2026/27 Kindergarten registration is now open! If your child was born in 2022, then this is your year. Here at TPCS you can register in either English or French Immersion kindergarten programs, and you don't have to live in our area to register with us. LDSB aims to accommodate families who wish to have their children attend a school out of their area. In order for classes to go skating, they need to have hockey helmets for every student. Thursday is our Colour Explosion Spirit day, our Hot Lunch make up day, and also the day of our rescheduled SAC meeting. Friday Jan. 30th is a P.A. Day. Be sure to clink the link below on our calendar poster to see more events between now and the end of the year.2026/27 Kindergarten registration is now open! If your child was born in 2022, then this is your year. Here at TPCS you can register in either English or French Immersion kindergarten programs, and you don't have to live in our area to register with us. LDSB aims to accommodate families who wish to have their children attend a school out of their area. There are some conditions so call the school to hear the details. <a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/registration" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">Registrations are completed on-line, follow the link to get started! </a>We are also on the look out for hockey helmets. In order for classes to go skating, they need to have hockey helmets for every student. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. Hopefully next week we will be able to get through our first full week without an inclement weather day!If you missed it last week, our pick up and drop off procedures are listed below again this week. Please take a moment to review the information, as we want these times of day to be as safe and orderly as possible for our students and their families.Hot lunches for February are still available in School Day, as are milkshakes and our annual ski trip. Don't forget to order before the windows close!No field trips or major events next week. There is lots of information included in the posters below however. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Our students had been working very hard on their performances, and it showed! We hope their singing and dancing brought you a smile and some holiday spirit.No big events the week we return. Please don't forget to purchase January hot lunch on School Day before the window closes. In the new year, our grade 8's can look forward to NDSS Information Night - details in the flyer below. Also if your child is missing vaccinations, perhaps take advantage of one of the clinics detailed further down in the update. In the new year Public Health will be notifying families of possible school suspensions for missing vaccinations, so please try and make arrangements with them as soon as possible.Our annual ski trip will open on School Day when we return in January. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Our intermediate students will be visting NDSS on Wednesday to watch a musical concert. The big event this week will be our annual Holiday Concert. It is being held on Wednesday, with one show at 9:00 am and another at 12:00 pm. Class photos and retakes were postponed by the snow day. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. by students impacts not only the learning environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Bonjour à tous!With the snow day last week, I would like to remind families that it is officially bus cancellation season. I try and message families when I am informed, however it is best that families use Tri-Board for bus specific messages. Check out the poster below for more details.Winter also leads to a spike in head lice cases in schools. We do checks and notify families when there are cases identified in classrooms, but it helps to be vigilant at home as well. Check your little ones hair when brushing, and if you find lice move ahead with treatment. More details are below, and if families need support to complete treatment please reach out and let me know.This week only a few things coming. Wednesday grade 3 students will be heading to the pool for Swim to Survive, and Thursday will be a spirit day - Tacky Thursday! Check out the poster below for more details.The big event coming will be our annual Primary Holiday Concert! Classes have begun to learn songs, skits, and dances to share with families December 17th. This event has a graphic further down in the newsletter.SAC would like to share that this coming Friday will be Poinsettia order pickup. Also Merch orders are available with delivery in time for Christmas, details down in the update. I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. This allows students to purchase gifts for their family before we break for the holidays. environment but also the safety and privacy of others. In accordance with the Limestone District School Board’s Policy as well as the Ministry of Education’s Policy, students are not to be using cell phones at school unless they are directed to do so by their teacher for instructional purposes. As a staff, we have discussed why certain students may need to use their cell phones while at school and we will make sure we connect with those students and their parents to make a plan. We also want to highlight that if there needs to be any communication between home and school during the school day, this needs to go through the main office by calling 613-354-2121.hen your child arrives at school, they will be directed to put their device in a safe container in the classroom. If your child does not follow the expectations around cell phone use, their device will be housed in the office for the day. There will not be any warnings given. Your child will be able to pick it up at the end of the day. If their device is being misused again, a parent/guardian will be asked to come pick up the cell phone. This policy extends to the use of headphones/earbuds without direct permission from a teacher. Bonjour à tous!What a strange week, began with a snow day and ends with a PA Day. No school tomorrow for students as teachers participate in learning sessions in Kingston.This week only a few things coming. Wednesday grade 3 students will be heading to the pool for Swim to Survive, and Friday will be Pink Shirt day. Wear pink that day to show support for sharing kindness with everyone. I would like to thank families for all the donations that have come in for our Kids Only shopping room. This allows students to purchase gifts for their family before we break for the holidays.
